I have come to understand that I have sensitive skin. Unfortunately, it is prone to scratches, rashes, and cracked/dry situations if I am not careful (and I am as careful as one can be). Before, when I would get only mainstream perfumes, I would try and spray just my clothes. But you know what? The scent of a no-additive body scrub and body wash wear off fairly quickly and I really like the thought of a good man nuzzling my neck and catching a lingering scent there.
So, in an effort to keep smelling nice and be able to smooth or spray on scents, I have dabbled in the handmade/handcrafted perfume and oil aisle of Etsy. There is a ton of options out there, from roll-on’s to solids to liquids, and I have more than one. It is not a huge collection, but I have enough to keep things exciting day and night. This is not to say that I don’t have my eyes on more mainstream scents (because I do – more on that later!), this is simply a post where I share perfumes that would come in contact with my skin. Here is my delicious, natural, and handmade perfume & oil collection…
Palo Santo + Rose Roll-on Perfume Oil
“A light botanical fragrance of solar-infused Palo Santo wood oil, farm-harvested Wild Roses, and wild harvested White Cedar extract. This roll-on potion is the perfect oil for anointing pressure with an intoxicating woodsy, resinous and floral scent. Crafted using a base of organic, raw coconut and jojoba seed oils which are comforting to sensitive skin.
Palo Santo is a mystical tree that grows on the coast of South America and is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal. In Spanish, the name literally means “Holy Wood”. The wood is enjoyed by many for its energetically cleansing and healing properties similar to Sage and Cedar.
To enhance the aroma, pieces of palo santo wood and wild rose petals are contained within each amber glass vial.”
Moonblossom Botanical Perfume Oil
“A soft botanical fragrance – perfect for those who wish to gently accent their own natural essence and energy.
A scent reminiscent of enchanting spice, and sugary cinnamon derived from the bark of the Cassia plant. A rich infusion of benzoin resin, black pepper and balsam needles, softened with sweet wildflower notes of warm chamomile, peach blossom, and geranium petal.
We have solar-infused Cassia Bark, farm-harvested Peach Blossoms, Wild Chamomile, Black Peppercorn, Cornflower, toasted Black Cardamom and Geranium Petals in a base of cold-pressed local sunflower seed oil and coconut oil steeped with crushed Benzoin Resin and forest gathered balsam needles for 8 weeks before bottling. A labour of love in every bottle.”
Moonlight Bath and Body Oil, 8oz
“A beautifully hydrating bath and body oil, rich in nourishing oils and extracts including cold-pressed, biodynamic Argan, Grape Seed, Pumpkin Seed, Evening Primrose and Apricot Kernel Oils. Scented with grounding Lavender, Eucalyptus, Sweet Fennel, and Jasmine Sambac.”
Eldermoon Body Serum, 8oz
“Body Serum w/ Marshmallow Root + Elder Flowers

Body, bath + Beauty Oil – Sage, Lemon, and Bay
“This multipurpose, all natural oil features a sumptuous blend of oils, raw botanicals, and earthy, natural scents for an oil that is truly an all in one. Some ideal uses: Beard oil, Body Moisturizer, Bath oil, Massage oil, Face moisturizer…
Ingredients: Organic grapeseed oil, organic sweet almond oil, organic safflower oil, jojoba oil, raw botanicals (lavender, chamomile, and/or bay leaf), essential oils.”
Petrichor, Eau De Parfum Spray
“Inspired by fresh notes of white grapefruit, eucalyptus and the scent of earth after rain. Our proprietary blend of essential oils are infused in a base of organic alcohol that is triple filtered for purity.”
Fragrance family: Clean, Citrus
Ruby Grapefruit Solid Perfume
“Like cutting into a fresh, juicy grapefruit! This seductively tangy fragrance blends fresh pink grapefruit with sweet Valencia orange, mouth-watering clementine, and soft florals. Phthalate free. Paraben free.”
How I use them:
As you can see, I like citrus, floral, slightly woodsy, and other fresh scents. I think that they have depth, complexity, and a sweet or sexy bend to them (depending on what other components they’re paired with).
I sometimes wear more than one at once (for different parts of my body) or I’ll wear one scent at a time. I like using FieldGuideBotanicals’ Petrichor and HomegrownSoapCo’s Ruby Grapefruit together for days or evenings out, and I use SacredWildWood’s Moonblossom Botanical Perfume & Palo Santo + Rose on my wrists, behind my ears, and on my neck for evenings at home.
As for the oils, I use them interchangeably: I like to use Moonlight Oil, Eldermoon Serum, and my Body, bath, Beauty, Massage Oil every two or three times per week. I never put them in water for a bath, because I think that would finish them quickly. Instead, I rub and massage them all over my body.
You might recognize SacredWildwood as a brand that I bought from when looking for skincare products to prep my skin for warmer weather. Well, I loved their Idunn Facial Elixir so much that I decided to buy more of their oil blends (which I had been eyeing up for some time), their Palo Santo + Rose perfume oil (which I initially received a small sample of with my elixir purchase), and their Moonblossom perfume oil. They are all glorious! I mean, seriously, Dominique (of SacredWildwood) must put magic dust in her products because they do wonders for the skin. In that same previous skincare post, I also introduced you to HomegrownSoapCo: their soaps are divine and their solid perfume is absolutely gorgeous – very fresh! FieldGuideBotanicals perfume spray is a new winner for me: I love the scent and I love how it pairs with my Ruby Grapefruit solid perfume.
So, that’s it. These are the products that I’m genuinely loving, and it’s amazing to me that I found out about all of them via Etsy. SERIOUSLY, Etsy should pay me for how much I buy from them (and, no, this post is not sponsored) because I genuinely buy a lot of my creature comforts and grooming products from there now. I even got my sister into Etsy…
